"Until the premier I didn't realize The Culling was a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' style podcast. Which... taking into account the amount of additional planning required to maintain all of those branching alternate timelines and dialogue... makes all the detail, care and precision put into each episode even more impressive." - Jeremy Ellett

"This is well cast and well acted with naturalistic dialogue, sometimes spaced out to allow for atmospheric music and sound scaping. For the Foley, Greer pulls from sounds known to Sci-Fi fans to deftly plant audience in familiar territory, then jangles our spines with equally familiar audio references to creepy horror.
Don't like the way things turn out? Listen back, making different choices. Hang out past the credits for more contextual clues." - Violet |
AboutThe Culling is the first horror installment to the Black Star universe but is the third story overall. The Culling debuted October 1, 2019. It contains explicit content including, violence, language, sudden action, scenes of tension, gore, and terror. This is not for all audiences.
Set in the year 2220 (over 200 years before the events of Black Star), The Culling follows Harker, and a group of researchers, stationed on the desolate planet Artus Borrell. Their compound, Ice Station Seeder, is tasked with researching a groundbreaking transmitter, capable of reaching the far corners of space at unprecedented speeds. If successful, this device would spring humanity forward, securing a more relevant position on a populated interstellar stage. Pitted against the icy elements, brutal indigenous lifeforms and a nightmarish revelation, the crew of Ice Station Seeder must consider who else may be listening to the signal that calls into the darkness of deep space.
